rear ender

one of over 200 accidents reported to the police on Monday.

Tuesday update: still snowing and over 353 accidents reported to the police

update to the update: between Sunday February 11 to Wednesday February 14, there were 2,053 collisions reported to the police (from the Calgary Herald February 16, 2007).

There is lots of indignation because of the city's poor job of plowing, salting and sanding the roads, but I think inept driving skills and lousy tires are more to blame for the smash-up derby. I had to snicker at the 4 wheel drive pick-up truck upside down on the front page of the Herald on Monday. On Tuesday, in a display of really clueless driving, I saw a giant 4 wheel drive Chevy Suburban (with no passengers of course) slide sideways on a straight road. I'm surprised it didn't roll over!
