William Blake 1757-1827

Auguries of Innocence

To see the world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower;
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour.

Stanza 1

I first came across this as graffiti on a coffee shop bathroom wall in Oakland/Berkeley. I'm embarrassed to say I didn't know it was Blake, but I do now!
Of course in the People's Republic of Berkeley they have intellectual graffiti: for a good time, call Billy Blake!
